FloatInk software licence agreement

FloatInk offers a 30-day trial and a one-time purchase for the current major version, covering up to 2 devices for one user with personal and commercial use included. This agreement applies to FloatInk distributed through the website and Microsoft Store. Read it before installing or using the app. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.
Parties and trial
The individual developer publishing FloatInk under the Celerware brand grants this licence to the user. first launch automatically requests a signed 30-day trial online. The period begins on successful issuance; restoring a deleted certificate preserves the original expiry. If initially offline, retry later or activate a purchased licence offline. No registration or payment card is required and there is no automatic charge. After the trial, features remain usable, but visible canvases display an unactivated watermark. Purchasing and activating a valid licence removes this watermark. Trial expiry does not trigger a purchase or renewal.
Permitted use
A purchase grants a non-exclusive, per-user licence for up to 2 Windows devices personally used by the same user, including personal and work computers. Teaching, presentations and commercial work are permitted. Different users need separate licences; an activation key may not be shared among users.
Perpetual use and updates
The purchase covers the current major version expressly identified at checkout. For example, a 1.x licence permits perpetual use of that version series and includes subsequent 1.x updates. Other major versions, such as 2.x, are not included in a 1.x licence and may be purchased as optional upgrades. Declining an upgrade does not remove access to your licensed versions. Perpetual use is not a promise of lifetime updates, indefinite support or compatibility with every operating system. Necessary updates, warranties and remedies required by applicable law remain available.
Device changes and activation
Release the old device’s activation before switching devices. If the old device is inaccessible, contact support for help. Activation requires a valid credential and necessary product and installation identifiers, as explained in the privacy policy. Resale or transfer to another user requires permission, except where applicable law grants a transfer right.
Distribution channels and device allowance
Downloading from Microsoft Store does not purchase a paid licence. Licences bought on the website are activated by the Celerware licensing service, with the same licence rules for Store and website builds. Microsoft’s distribution and update services have their own terms. Slots use stable system device identifiers. Deleting app data, reinstalling the app or changing distribution channels on the same Windows installation does not consume another slot when restoring with the same key. A clean Windows installation or system cloning may change or duplicate the identifier.
Restrictions on use
Except as permitted by this agreement, written permission from the rights holder or applicable law, you may not modify the program, create derivative programs, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it; rent, lend, resell, sublicense or distribute the software or paid licences to others; remove or alter copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices; share, forge or publicly distribute activation credentials or bypass trial, version or device limits; or use the software unlawfully or to infringe privacy, intellectual property or other rights.
Exceptions to the restrictions
Normal use of the app’s settings and customisation features, installation within the licence allowance and backups necessary for lawful use are permitted. Decompilation for interoperability, observation, study, testing and other activities that applicable law does not allow a contract to restrict remain permitted. Rights expressly granted by accompanying third-party or open-source licences also remain available for their respective components.
Software ownership
The FloatInk program, interface assets, documentation and related intellectual property belong to the developer or respective rights holders. The software is licensed, not sold. Beyond the express permission to use it, this agreement transfers no copyright, trademark or other intellectual-property rights. Purchasing does not authorise use of Celerware or FloatInk names or marks to impersonate the developer or imply endorsement.
Your content
You retain the rights you hold in your annotations, screenshots and other content. Using FloatInk does not transfer those rights to the developer or grant permission to use that content for advertising or AI training. You are responsible for permissions needed to annotate, capture, present or share third-party content; rights in that content remain with its rights holders.
Licence termination
A material breach may lead to termination. Except for fraud or security incidents requiring immediate action, the developer will explain the issue through available contact details and allow 14 days to remedy it. You may request a review through support. After termination, stop using the paid licence and remove the corresponding licence files.
Offline use
A successfully activated perpetual licence valid for the current installation and major version is verified locally without periodic online renewal. Deleting the local licence requires activation again; recovery on the same device reuses its slot. Reinstalling Windows or changing devices may require managing the previous slot. Exported offline requests can be processed on the website licence help page, with support available if needed. Keep your purchase records. Temporary network unavailability does not cancel an existing licence; perpetual use does not guarantee uninterrupted activation services. Stop using a terminated paid licence even if it still runs locally. The developer does not remotely delete your personal files for this purpose.
Screen content and sharing
Annotation, screenshot and mosaic tools do not guarantee removal of sensitive information from original content, hidden layers, the clipboard or other applications. Review the actual output before sharing, recording or presenting, and save work you need to keep.
Agreement and licence changes
Changes carry a version and date and do not retroactively reduce purchased rights. Material changes requiring renewed agreement must be separately disclosed and accepted.
Third-party components
Third-party components follow their accompanying licences and notices. For a particular component, its licence prevails over conflicting provisions of this agreement. This agreement does not reduce the rights to use, modify or redistribute granted by that licence.
Disclaimer of warranties
Except for this agreement, express product commitments made at purchase and warranties required by applicable law, the software is provided as delivered, without other express or implied warranties. The developer does not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, compatibility with every hardware or software environment, or suitability for a particular purpose not expressly promised. Assess suitability during the trial and save and back up important work. This section does not remove obligations to honour express commitments, provide legally required updates, remedy non-conforming products or fulfil other legal duties.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen. For users acting in the course of business, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss of profits, revenue, business opportunities or goodwill. This section does not exclude or limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct or gross negligence, personal injury or death, non-excludable data-protection liability, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Consumers retain their statutory rights to compensation for reasonably foreseeable losses, warranties and remedies.
Related terms and severability
This agreement, the sales terms applicable to a purchase and the specific licence information together describe the software licence rights. The privacy policy explains personal-data handling and is not consent to all processing. Any conflict is interpreted in light of each document’s scope without reducing mandatory rights or rights expressly granted at purchase. If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining independently enforceable provisions continue to apply.

Contact support@celerware.com for help with licensing, the software or these terms, or to request a review. This does not restrict complaints to competent authorities or judicial remedies available under law. This agreement imposes no mandatory arbitration or waiver of statutory consumer rights.
